Delta County Economic Development and the Colorado University School of Medicine

are hosting a week-long program in June to give Delta County students

an opportunity to explore a career in rural healthcare.


20 Delta County students will be chosen from applicants throughout the Delta County School District including Delta, Cedaredge, Austin, Eckert, Paonia and Hotchkiss.


DCED and the CU School of Medicine have worked in partnership with:

Delta County Memorial Hospital, Delta County School District, Delta-Montrose Technical College

and the Anschutz Medical Campus to create the following program:


Sunday, June 1st:     

Check In, Opening Remarks, HIPAA Review, VARK, Nelson-Denny and Myers-Brigg Testing, Evening Games


Monday, June 2nd:

Health Careers Expo 1, CPR/First Aid Training, Nelson-Denny results, Reading Groups, Ice-Cream Social


Tuesday, June 3rd:

Prepare for Job Shadowing, Health Careers Expo 2, Obesity Project, Health Assessments


Wednesday, June 4th:

Simulations at the Delta Technical College, Reading Groups, Hiking/Fishing Afternoon and Evening Barbeque


Thursday, June 5th:

Job Shadowing with Medical Practitioners throughout the County, Reading Groups and Evening Games


Friday, June 6th:

Anatomy in Clay at the Delta Technical College, Practice Skits


Saturday, June 7th:

Pack-up, Move-Out, Student Skits Before Lunch.  After Lunch; Survey, Awards and Closing
