Delta County
is located in a large mountain valley at the confluence of the Gunnison
and Uncompahgre Rivers. Just south of the Grand Mesa (the world's
largest flat-top mountain), Delta County offers a mild climate with
warm, dry summers and moderate winters. The climate and setting of the

DCMH is
a 49-bed acute care hospital serving all of the region. The hospital
includes physicians specializing in all disciplines of medicine. The
healthcare facilities are extensive, incorporating general medical care
with diagnostic radiology, laboratory service, physical therapy,
respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, MRI, CAT scanning, nuclear
medicine, diagnostic studies, echocardiography, ultrasound diagnostic
testing, and home-bound services. DCMH's new facility, completed in
2004, is approximately 95,000 square feet and equipped with $6 million
dollars of new, state-of-the-art equipment.

Electric Association is Delta County's rural electric cooperative.
Although outstanding customer service is the number one priority for
DMEA, they work hard to be on the cutting edge of energy technolgies.
Examples include their GeoExchange program, solar and wind energy
programs, and net-metering programs. DMEA is committed to community
service with programs such as the 'Round Up' program (participating
customers electric bills are ""rounded up"" to the nearest dollar, and
the proceeds go to local area nonprofit groups), safety demonstrations,
annual participation in 4-H and FFA programs, and annual scholarships
helping students realize their dreams of higher education.

Delta
County School District is comprised of 13 traditional schools in five
communities. The District takes pride in offering a Back Pack program
for students as young as three, three BELA pre-schools, and
offers post-secondary education through the Delta Montrose Technical
College. The School District also is proud to support alternative
education through five contract schools within the County.

The Delta County Memorial Hospital Medical Staff includes 75 Active, 18 Courtesy, 5 Consulting and 2 Honorary members. The staff’s 100 physicians offer family practice and internal medicine services; including obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric care. Specialties include general, orthopedic, obstetrics, gynecology, ophthalmology and urology surgery, as well as oncology, rheumatology and physiatry care. Cardiology, neurology and endocrinology physicians also visit the hospital’s clinics weekly.
